Caressed by the warm, coral-garden-waters of the Indian Ocean and
embraced by some of the highest and most pristine dune forests in
the world, Thonga Beach Lodge nestles forty metres from Mabibi Beach
in the Coastal Forest Reserve of Maputaland, north of Sodwana Bay.
Thonga Beach Lodge is a delightful blend of a traditional Thonga
village and a luxurious beach hideaway. Guests are accommodated
in 12 en-suites thatched chalets and nestled into the coastal forest.
Here the Loggerhead and Leatherback turtles make their journey
with destiny once a year to lay their eggs in the white sands
of Mabibi beach, well above the high water mark. The coastal
forests, Lake Sibaya and the marine environment provide superb
birding opportunities for the keen bird watcher. Mabibi Beach
is the ideal venue for relaxing and soaking up the sun or
snorkelling the shallow rock pools around the beach. There are
a number of pristine reefs that provide diving enthusiasts with

can be throw a line from the beach or from the rocky coastal
shelves nearby. Sundowners and canoeing on nearby Lake Sibaya
is very popular and the lake environment is tranquil and
completely untouched by the outside world. Thonga Beach Lodge
is the ideal venue to relax and enjoy the ambience of a very special place.
