| Barberton Lodge | | | | Southern Zimbabwe is dominated by large granite outcrops that stretch from the eastern highlands to the Matopas in the southwest. Midway between Beit Bridge and Bulawayo is the 160 000 hectare Bubiana conservancy which has been responsible for the reintroduction of numerous wildlife species including elephant and black rhino to the area. The conservancy accommodates a tremendous diversity of bird, wildlife and fauna and flora species, many of which are endemic to the area. The area is steeped in history with rock art, grain bins and tools of the trade offering glimpses of ancient Africa. | | | Stone and thatch chalets hidden in the trees | | | | Barberton Lodge, perched on the top of one of the large rocky outcrops, commands an exceptional viewpoint from which to observe this wilderness region. A natural rock entrance welcomes you to a split-level lounge, dining and bar area. A stairway puts you on top of the world at the gazebo plunge pool and bar. The four stone chalets, each with en-suite bathroom facilities and private patios with magnificent views, are the ideal retreat. | | | The swimming pool with its panoramic view | | | | At Barberton, time is yours to do as you please.
