Bushman’s Kloof is approximately two hundred and seventy kilometres north of Cape Town in the foothills of the Cedarberg. Wide-open plains, ravines, waterfalls and prehistoric rock formations characterise this ecological oasis. Five different botanical communities exist in this area, which is due to a unique subterranean river system. The abundance of water and the diversity of plant life hold the key to the region’s natural history. Some six thousand years ago, the San people used to hunt and gather in the region, evidence of which is found in the more than one hundred and twenty five rock paintings at Bushman’s Kloof. |
