| The untamed countryside in the vicinity of the Lodge | | | | Dominated by the Great Ruaha River, Ruaha National Park is a rugged wilderness comprising diverse landscapes and an enormous variety of wildlife and birds. Covering 13 000 square kilometres, the park is the second largest in Tanzania and offers a spectacular wilderness and wildlife experience unsurpassed elsewhere in Africa. The reserve remains unspoilt by large numbers of visitors and it’s isolation and peace is unlikely to be disturbed for some time to come. Large herds of elephant and buffalo are a feature of the reserve and lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog are also present. | | | A view of Ruaha River Lodge
from across the Great Ruaha River | | | | Ruaha River Lodge is the only lodge in the reserve and it is built on a rocky ridge with spectacular views of the Great Ruaha river. The local stone and thatch en-suite accommodation bandas are individually sited along the river and offer unrivalled views of the animals coming down to the water to drink. The lodge offers guided game drives in specially adapted 4 x 4 vehicles or walks suited to the guest’s particular requirements. | | | The Ruaha landscape | | | | The lodge is managed by Peter Fox who, for most of his life, has been involved in Ruaha National Park. His experience and knowledge of the park and its wildlife guarantees guests an unforgettable safari. All excursions are accompanied by Peter or by one of his personally trained guides. | | | | | | Rates are available on request. | | |
